About the project

We manage a range of showgrounds and associated facilities across the Central Highlands region. These sites support agricultural shows, equestrian activities, community events, camping, and a range of recreational and sporting activities. We are preparing a Regional Showgrounds Network Plan to guide the future planning, management and investment in:

  • Blackwater Showgrounds
  • Capella Showgrounds
  • Emerald Showgrounds
  • Springsure Showgrounds
  • Roy Day Park, Sapphire Gemfields

The plan will help us better understand how each site is used, identify priorities and opportunities at a regional level and ensure these important facilities continue to meet the needs of our communities into the future.

Why are we preparing this plan?

The Regional Showgrounds Network Plan will help us to:

  • understand how each site is currently used
  • identify existing and future community needs
  • support local clubs, organisations and event organisers
  • guide future investment and maintenance priorities
  • improve the long-term sustainability of the regional showgrounds network
  • ensure Council's planning reflects community priorities

Have Your Say

We have already received valuable feedback about some of our regional showgrounds. We are now inviting the wider community to share their ideas and priorities so that all feedback can be considered in the development of the Regional Showgrounds Network Plan. We want to hear from everyone who uses or has an interest in our regional showgrounds.

Whether you participate in, organise or attend events, are involved in a community organisation or show society, or simply want to see these facilities continue to thrive, your feedback will help shape the future Regional Showgrounds Network Plan.

We are seeking your feedback on how our regional showgrounds are currently used, what is working well, what could be improved and how these facilities can best serve our communities into the future.
