The results of the survey indicate that majority of respondents support the proposed changes to the line marking at Denison State School. Central Highlands Regional Council will be going ahead with the line marking changes. The timeline for this work will be available to view on this project page once established.

The main concern voiced in the survey results was around removing parking options at Denison State School. Council have been advised that Denison State School, in collaboration with Education Queensland, plan to double the on-site parking space near the hall. This is in response to the ongoing work to make school drop off and pick up times safer for students and the community. The total number of onsite carparks at the completion of this project in that section of the school will be over 40. This project to build additional carparks has been funded and is due to be delivered by December 2022.

Central Highlands Regional Council have undertaken essential line marking works on Gray Street to enhance road safety for vehicles accessing the Denison State School drop off area. Council have received community feedback on the plans and from there this project was successfully completed on 25 February 2023.

The intention of these works has been to create an interim solution to traffic congestion issues during school drop off periods. Longer term solutions are currently being developed in conjunction with the school.

The line marking works have included:

  • Installation of a new slip lane on the approach to the school drop off area
  • Removal of all existing on-street car park line markings adjacent to Denison State School
  • Installation of new yellow edge line marking, which will restrict on-street parking. Once works are complete, vehicles will not be permitted to park on the street at these locations.
  • Installation of new direction signs and a continuous dividing line which will restrict drivers from making a right turn into the existing entry to the school drop off area

Council received community feedback on the plans and have carried out the project to completion. An outlline plan of the line marking works can be found on the right-hand side of the page, or at the bottom of the page on a mobile device.
