Central Highlands Regional Council has commenced work on a Draft Planning Scheme Amendment for improved floodplain management across the region’s communities, under the new ‘Our Region, Our Resilience’ program.

Now, the first round of community conversations and information sessions are underway, and council wants to hear from you. There are many ways to have your say, and council is inviting people from near and far to join the start of this important, ongoing conversation.

Your feedback will inform an amended approach towards to how we best deal with the management of floodplains across the region, and support more informed decision making on the development, land use and future of our communities, regionwide.

How to Get Involved

1. Take the survey and go into the draw to win a pre-loaded EFTPOS card worth $200.
An online survey has been developed to gain a broad sweeping understanding of the community’s views towards improved floodplain management across the region. The community survey is for all members of the public and we encourage everyone to participate as the findings will support the development of a more informed draft amendment.

The survey will be live from the morning of 23 May to midnight 18 June 2021. For more information, see the FAQ section on the right.

Please click here to complete the survey

2. Attend a Regional Roadshow Community Information Session, listed on the right-hand side of the page.

Sessions are open to all community members and will be the first meeting of a planned, ongoing conversation around new flood information about your community, and what this could mean across a range of scenarios for possible development and land use planning decision making moving forward.
