In 2043 the Central Highlands has opportunities for all

The Central Highlands 2043 Community Vision outlines what we aspire to be and achieve, our priorities for the future, what we like and what can be improved for the Central Highlands region overall and our 13 communities.

It articulates a vision statement for the Central Highlands region to work towards over the next 20 years, and individual visions for the 13 distinct communities to support place-based community aspirations.

In 2023 extensive engagement was undertaken to develop vision and regional profiles - read more about process here

Aspirations and outcomes for the future

Aspirations and outcomes for the future are organised under the five themes -

Everyone has a part to play in progressing the 2043 Vision

The 2043 Community Vision is developed, owned and will be led by the community. Individuals, community groups, not-for-profit organisations, businesses, industry and all levels of government should always work together to advance this community vision. Everyone is encouraged to take inspiration from the vision, and act on these community aspirations for the future.

Some aspirations, outcomes and priorities are within the responsibilities of the federal and state governments. As a local government, Central Highlands Regional Council will identify breakthrough projects that will be undertaken each financial year via a highlight flyer directly responding to the community’s vision, available in the 'Council project highlights' section of this page.
