L&F Transfers is leading the initiative with Central Highlands Regional Council in the feasibility of installing five all weather Bus Passenger Shelter Locations in Blackwater. L&F Transfers together with the Jellinbah mine, concepted this initiative and BUMA Australia quickly adopted the idea as a worthy concept.

Building bus shelters in Blackwater is crucial for enhancing local transportation services. The shelters would provide a refuge for the community, ensuring a more comfortable and convenient waiting experience for residents and mine workers. For the local community, it promotes public transportation options already in place. For mine workers, the shelters provide protection from the weather elements, fostering a more reliable and efficient transportation system. Overall, these bus shelters contribute to the town's infrastructure, prioritizing accessibility, safety, and sustainability for diverse groups within the community.

We would like the community's feedback on the feasibility of the proposed locations in the survey and if there are any alternate location suggestions for the shelters please pop a pin on the map below along with a brief explanation as to why the location chosen is more suitable.

There has already been some discussions with local schools and industry, the feedback so far is that Blackwater requires the passenger transport stops and that by supplying these shelters, it would not only provide shelter from the elements for local industry, but also the local community.

The advantages of including the bus shelters in the proposed locations will be:

  • Protection from the weather
  • Seating provided within the shelter and
  • Increased visibility and legibility of public transport

L&F Transfers has nominated 5 potential locations for Bus Passenger Shelters:

  1. Bauman Way - adjacent to Graham Park
  2. Yeates Avenue - adjacent to Village on Blain
  3. Wey Street - adjacent to the school entry gate
  4. Hunter Street - adjacent to the sports grounds
  5. Blain Street - in front of Woolworths

If there are any alternate location suggestions for the Shelters please pop a pin on the map below along with a brief explanation as to why the location chosen is more suitable.

When reviewing the locations please keep in mind:

  • The shelter will not restrict nearby driveway or intersection sightlines.
  • The shelter can be located at an appropriate location relative to the bus stop, which makes it a logical place for passengers to wait within the shelter.
  • Does not adversely impact underground utilities.
  • Review if accessibility and operational improvements need to be made to optimise the usability of the bus stop
