Consultation has concluded
In August to September 2020, Council undertook public consultation on a proposed amendment to the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP 2). The amendment replaces the existing Local Government Infrastructure Plan in Part 4 and Schedule 3 of the Central Highlands Regional Council Planning Scheme 2016, and associated mapping and support material.
The draft LGIP2 set out a plan for ensuring that trunk infrastructure services are provided to existing residents or landowners, extended to new developments, and provided to a standard of service that the community have come to expect. The LGIP and the rest of the planning scheme help council to plan the most financially sustainable way to achieve this outcome through a preferred settlement pattern and infrastructure network planning.
If you live on or own property in an urban area, the LGIP ensures that you have access to trunk infrastructure networks such as water, sewerage, stormwater, roads, public parks and land for community facilities. If you live on or own property in a rural area, you may only have access to trunk infrastructure networks such as roads, public parks and land for community facilities.
Regular amendments to the LGIP ensure that council has the information it needs to make decisions on proposed developments and applicable infrastructure charges.
