Council seeks feedback on draft biosecurity plan

Council is leading the development of the Biosecurity Plan 2025-2028, a strategic initiative to tackle the impact of weeds and pest animals across the region.

The plan is designed to protect local ecosystems, agriculture, and public health by preventing, detecting, and managing invasive species. It aligns with the Central Highlands Regional Council Corporate Plan 2022–2027 and the 2043 Community Vision, shaping budget and operational priorities.

The key strategies of the Biosecurity Plan include:

  • Prevention and early detection – strengthening surveillance and risk assessments.

  • Rapid response and control – ensuring a coordinated approach to outbreaks.

  • Education and awareness – running public campaigns and providing educational resources.

  • Collaboration and partnerships – working with government agencies and industry to share best practices.

The plan is available for review, and feedback can be submitted on the Have Your Say website until 16 July 2025.

For enquiries, contact council on 1300 242 686.
