Section 25 of the Planning Act 2016 states that local governments must review their planning scheme within 10 years after it was made or last reviewed. This applies even if a local government has made subsequent amendments to the planning scheme.
The Central Highlands Regional Council Planning Scheme (planning scheme) was originally adopted on 24 February 2016, so our first planning scheme review will be due in 2026.
Before we begin, we want to hear about your experience with our planning scheme.
The purpose of this survey is to seek insights into matters such as:
how easy the planning scheme is to navigate and understand
whether there are parts that don’t work well and what we might do to improve them
whether the scheme appropriately reflects the regional vision, risk tolerance and objectives.
This survey will guide council officers in the review process and may lead to recommendations for future changes to the planning scheme.
