Project objective

The Central Highlands Regional Council have been on a journey of learning since the launch of their first Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) June 2020 - June 2021. The Reflect one-year plan reinforced Council's commitment to developing inclusive, respectful, and meaningful relationships and ongoing learning and sharing in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories.

The development and implementation of our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is our next step towards reconciliation.

This Innovate RAP will focus on strengthening our relationships, promoting the importance of valuing the culture of the different Traditional Custodian groups, and improve employment and economic and social outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the region.

We have worked to ensure that our commitments over the next two years are informed by our learnings, and we hope that together we achieve a positive impact with the implementation of our Innovate RAP.

Council has been working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, Traditional Custodians and the wider community to develop the Innovate RAP.

The consultation is an opportunity for the community to share their ideas on how we can acknowledge and promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and protocols.

Council welcomes all community members to share their views, and we invite you to provide your responses in the survey.
