Playground Success
Share Playground Success on Facebook Share Playground Success on Twitter Share Playground Success on Linkedin Email Playground Success linkLate last year, we asked community to give feedback to inform a scheduled upgrade to Rich Memorial Park playground. The existing equipment was nearing the end of its useful life, making it a good time to check in with local families about their needs and aspirations for the playground.
Four design options were posted online on Have Your Say, Central Highlands, each with a dedicated discussion forum. The online forum was open for one month, and during this time an onsite consultation was held, providing an opportunity for community members to meet and discuss ideas with council staff.
Of the four design options, option #1 was by far the most popular. The order was finalised earlier this year, with minor adjustments to accommodate requests. Installations were completed in May 2019.
The new-and-improved playground has received a great response from the Springsure community, with as many as 30 children attending the park on re-opening day. The playground continues to have visitors before and after school, with kids enjoying the wide variety of equipment to play on.
Thank you to everyone who contributed their knowledge and ideas to this project. Comment below to tell us what you think of the end result.

Community Engagement
Share Community Engagement on Facebook Share Community Engagement on Twitter Share Community Engagement on Linkedin Email Community Engagement linkIn October and November 2018, council sought feedback on four playground designs, to see which features are important to the local community.
We held an online consultation and a drop-in session at Rich Memorial Park to receive feedback directly.
During this process our Community Recreation and Facilities Team received detailed feedback on the playground, and this feedback is informing a revision of the playground design.
Construction is expected to commence in February 2019.
